Altenew Peony Bouquet--Finally

I confess, I am terrible about stalking a stamp set--like not resting until I have it--and then letting it sit and not be used for a very long time.  The Peony Bouquet set by Altenew is one of those stamp sets.  I had to have it and did not rest until I got it.  That was a year ago and I finally got it out to use this week.

IMG_1442

It has lived up to my expectations.  With minimal effort I was able to create these stunning peonies.  I used the Altenew ink cubes to create my layers.  Their inks are rich and stamp so cleanly.  The hardest part of this card with figuring out where the images line up at.  Once I found a couple spots it was a snap.

IMG_1443

The sentiment I used is from Papertrey Ink's Think Big line.

IMG_1444

I added a few seed beads to the card for some dimension.

Stay Calm and Be Awesome

I have a quick encouragement card to share today.  It is a one layer card with lots of stamping.  I used the stamp set Show and Tell by Stampin' Up.

IMG_1441

The ink colors all come from Lawn Fawn.  I love how smooth their inks are.  They have a great selection of colors too.

Enjoy Your Special Day

Today's card is pink, sparkly, and a lot of fun to make.

IMG_1445

All the stamps and dies I used are from Stampin' Up.  I used Dragonfly Dreams for the dragonfly die and sentiment.

IMG_1446

I also used Gorgeous Grunge and Work of Art for the black splats and chevrons.

IMG_1447
The white stitched circle comes from Stampin Up as well.

With Sympathy

I have a sympathy card to share today.  I don't know that I really like making them but it is always better to have one on hand if you need it.

IMG_1450

I love how soft the grey with white ink looks on this card.  The stamp set is Thoughtful Branches by Stampin Up.

Happy Independence Day

I hope you are enjoying your July 4th with friends and family.  I am spending the day visiting with family in Missouri.  The kids love to come to Missouri for July 4th so they can set off their own fireworks.  My cards today are the last of my July 4th cards I sent out.

My first card uses star die cuts and the triple banner punch from Stampin' Up.

IMG_1464

My sentiment comes from Papertrey Ink Summer Jar Fillers.

IMG_1466

The second card I have to share uses the same sentiment.

IMG_1460

I created the red and blue stripes with one of the images from Stampin' Up Work of Art.

IMG_1462

The card also has some small die cut stars in the center of the two stripes.

Shaker Carousel

I know I have mentioned how much I love shaker cards.  It is something about all those sparkles that move around that I adore.  Today the card I am sharing features Stampin' Up set Carousel Birthday. I have seen were several people have cut the center to make a shaker with this set.

IMG_1448
I stamped and cut the cupcakes a few times to get the color layers I wanted. I used a mix of sequins from my stash.

Made with Love

My teaching friend recently had a baby.  I have tried to come up with many reasons I could pull out my baby stamps to make things for her. The card I'm sharing today is the last card I made for her.

IMG_1437

I used the Made with Love set from Stampin' Up.

IMG_1438

I added a few details like the thread behind my sentiment and the folded corner.

IMG_1439

The inside of the card has patterned paper on both sides.  I love the brown and blue combo.

IMG_1440

I felt the card needed a special envelope to go with it.  I added a wrap to the envelope and another image from the stamp set.

IMG_1451

I loved making this card.  I finally used some of the thread I had to purchase in a ton of colors.  I want to make more cards with the envelope wrap.  I love how it turned out.

July 4th Cards and a tip

I have a couple July 4th cards to share with you.  I pulled out a bunch of supplies and just played to make these.  I don't have much in the way of patriotic themed stamps so I had to make some of my other stamps and supplies serve my purpose.

IMG_1456

Both of the cards I am sharing today use this stamp from Stampin Up Birthday Blast.  I altered it by using some thin washi tape before I inked up the stamp.

IMG_1453

IMG_1454

Then when I was ready to stamp I pulled the washi off and the You was left free of ink.

IMG_1455

I was able to get a clean impression.  I've tried just wiping ink off the part of the sentiment I didn't want but I always seem to end up with a shadow of the sentiment or I end up wiping some ink off the part I want to use.

IMG_1469

This card uses the some of the scribbles in the Stampin Up Swirly Scribbles to create waves of a flag.

IMG_1467

I also layered up some stars from a thinlets die set.  I used glitter, red, and blue.

IMG_1468

The other card I used my Celebrate sentiment on is a pretty non-traditional July 4th card but it has all the patriotic colors in it.

IMG_1457

I started by stamping my sentiment on the card and one of the images from Stampin Up Gorgeous Grunge (one of my all time favorite stamp sets).

IMG_1458

Finally I placed some stars and heart die cuts around the card.

Soy Happy For You

Yesterday I shared the card I made for my brother to congratulate him on his engagement.  I didn't want to leave his fiancee out so I made her this quick little card using Lawn Fawn Let's Roll.  I have loved this set since I picked it up and I don't even like sushi!

IMG_1470

This is a simple and clean card.  I just added some layering to pull it all together.  The images are colored with Spectrum Noir.

Ribbiting News

My brother is engaged--finally!  We really thought it would never happen at this point but he has found his someone special and I finally got to use this frog couple stamp I have been holding on to for about 6 years.  It is much older than that.  I purchased it from a garage sale and have no idea who made the stamp.

IMG_1471

You may be asking yourself why frogs?  My family has been teasing my brother about frogs for years.  I make him a special frog birthday card every year and we always find him something froggy for Christmas.  When our parents were alive they had a blast with all the frogs so I have continued it.

The ribbiting news sentiment is from Paper Smooches Critter Puns set.  I'm sure my brother will love it!  We will see how his fiancee feels about frogs when I see them later this week.

Texas Teacher

I have wanted a Texas Teacher shirt for a while but never seemed to get around to making myself one.  I found this very soft baseball style shirt that is lightweight and short sleeved.  I knew it would be perfect for starting the school year.  It is still so hot at the beginning of the year I don't want 3/4 sleeves or anything too heavy.

IMG_1474

I used SCAL to create the cut file and my Scan N Cut to cut the vinyl.  I convinced my husband I needed a heat press last fall so this shirt was a snap to finish up (don't mind my photo-bombing dog in the background).

Photo Wood Project

I have one more project I made while I was on my scrapbook retreat.  If you have never been to a retreat, I highly recommend it.  I love just having time to create with no interruptions.  The project today came together very quickly and I will definitely be making more of these!

IMG_1436
To create this I purchased the wood piece and order a photo that was close in size to it.  I measured each slat and cut a strip of the picture that size.  Once I had all my pieces I used Gel Medium to adhere the photo to the wood. I could definitely add some things to my project but I really like the simplicity of it.

Entry Way Piece

Last summer I went to the Vintage Market Days when it came to Houston.  I picked up several things just because I loved them but had no idea what to do with them.  In that group of things I picked up was a piece of reclaimed wood and some hooks.  They have sat in the closet of my scrapbook room until I went to the retreat this past weekend.  I put the hooks and the wood together with some paint and vinyl stencils and this is what I ended up with.

IMG_1433

To make my vinyl stencil I used my Scan N Cut to cut out a big Texas.  I weeded out the positive part.  Then I applied the stencil to my board and pounced the white paint on to it.  When the paint dried I moved on to the second stencil which was my last name.  I cut and applied it again and pounced some green paint in it.

IMG_1434

I finished off wood piece by adding the hooks I found.  I think this will look great in our entry way where guests can hang a jacket.

Teach Love Inspire

I have another fun project I completed at my scrapbook retreat.  This time I was working on a shadow box.  I try to make something for my teaching partner every year when we start school. Last year I made her a shirt with HTV and the year before it was word blocks for the classroom.  This year I created a shadow box (one for me too!) that can be used in the classroom.  I picked out a nice background paper and used a box of crayons to fill the box.

IMG_1428

The front of the shadow box is finished with a vinyl quote I downloaded from Lori Whitlock.  I think my teaching buddy will love it but I can't decide if I want to keep the chevron or dot background!

Did someone say walk?

I spent a long weekend at a scrapbook retreat with some of my crafty friends.  I packed a lot of stuff and luckily completed a lot of stuff!  I have wanted to make this leash holder for a while. I finally found the perfect saying for it and completed it at the retreat.

IMG_1429

The jar is to hold either a treat or a doggie bag.  I started with a wood plaque I picked up at Hobby Lobby and some chalk paint.  I had a lot of fun at the hardware store looking for pieces to hold the mason jar on and the hook for the leash.  I finished off with a vinyl quote cut with a file from Lori Whitlock.

Mermaid Kisses and Starfish Wishes

I am finally getting the chance to try out my Hero Arts Monthly Kit for May.  May is such a busy time for teachers.  I never get into the craft room as much as I would like and when I do it is usually to make something for one of my my children!

I have two cards to share today.  The are fairly similar to each other, I just used some different products for each.

The first card has an inked background with the wave stencil.  This stencil is just gorgeous!  I love how the waves seem to be moving across the page.

IMG_1418

IMG_1419

For the second card I inked the card base and then used some blue glitter embossing paste with the stencil.

IMG_1420

IMG_1421

I colored my mermaids and my little fish friends with colored pencils.  I finished off with a few sequins that were in the kit.

Another Peacock

I pulled out the Hero Arts Layering Peacock and coordinating stencil again.

IMG_1416

I also used the Hero Arts Peacock ink set for this card.  I really love how detailed the stencil and stamp are.  It makes an elegant card quickly and easily.  I left the sentiment off of this one.  I want to add it on a banner eventually but I really felt this card could go any way that suited me--birthday, thank you, encouragement--lots of options.

Father's Day Gift Card Holder

I created another Father's Day card with a cut file.  This one is a gift card holder. I love how the gift card fits in the pocket!  Super cute.

IMG_1414

I finished off the card front with some brads and stamped the sentiment on the pocket.
