Scrapbook Thursday--Roasted Wieners and S'mores

I love how this layout turned out.  The papers were perfect for the pictures.

I am quite proud of my flames and logs.  I used a cut off a Slice cartridge and then set to shading and embellishing it.

As cute as the main course turned out, the dessert was even better...

The marshmallows really came to life when I coated them in liquid applique and then heated it.  I love how it puffed up and wrinkles.  I even managed to toast a couple of them when I got the heat gun too close.

Scrapbook Thursday--Fishing Ticket

Today's scrapbook Thursday is another single page layout.  I have been going back and filling in some open spots in my albums.  These pictures are of a fishing and camping trip Simon took with his grandpa.

I love the paper lines from Simple Stories.  I love the vintage feel and all the options they give you for embellishing and journaling.   I've used the bingo type cards a lot!

Twill tape is one of my favorite ways to add some texture to a page.

Creative Chemistry 102

I have the other three techniques from Creative Chemistry 102.  This was such a great purchase.  I have loved trying out the techniques and of course shopping for the new supplies to try!

This tag is showing a stamp resist with distress paints.  I was really surprised at how nicely the distress paints stamp.  Usually when I've stamped with paint it ends up really thick.  I was able to use a detailed stamp here.

I next tried out the eroded metallic.  I love the look of this technique.  It was tricky to get the right look.  I want to get some more paint colors so I can try this with other metals and backgrounds.

This technique was called altered surfaces.  Tim Holtz demonstrated it with plastic pieces from his line.  I wasn't able to get any of those so I die cut two elements from chipboard and a metal sheet.  I didn't have the right colors of paint to achieve the patina look so I went for a rusted metal finish.

Scrapbook Thursday--Birthday Water Colors

The layout I am sharing today has been in the making for a couple years.  I found these water color pages by Prima several years ago at an Expo.  It sat on my shelf for a year or two until I purchased some shimmer watercolors.  Then I colored the page but had no idea what I was going to put in it so it sat for another year or two.  I have finally used the page for a birthday layout.

I added some stickles to some of the leaves and flowers to add some dimension.

Creative Chemistry 102

I loved Creative Chemistry 101.  When I got the email about Creative Chemistry 102 I couldn't wait to see what I would learn this time.  This class has a total of 30 techniques.  It took me a week to complete the first day of techniques.  I have 3 to share today and 3 to share on Friday.

The first technique I tried is the paint marbling.  I have to admit at first I was not a fan of this technique.  I'm not crazy about the bright colors but after playing with this a bit I really like my results.  More paint colors is on my shopping list.

The second technique is the colored crackle.  I like the end results.  Unfortunately I messed up one of the butterflies by sticking my arm in it.

The last technique I have to share today is industrial.  It is one of my favorites.  I love how it added texture to an embossing folder.  I can't wait to start making cards for the men in my life using this technique.

Autumn Cuties

Today I am sharing another fun layout.  I have committed to using my favorite papers instead of hoarding them.  It's silly when I won't use a paper because I like it too much!

When I purchase papers I often end up with something I thought was stunning but isn't always practical for scrapping with.  I have lots of big prints that are hard to use or very busy prints.  In my quest to use up some supplies I have started pulling these out to work with.

This first paper has really big print but I found that by layering my pictures around it and adding a little bling to the print I was able to use it.

I wanted to bring some elements from the first page to the second page so I made some paper flowers using tattered florals die.

Paper: BoBunny (patterned papers, double dot) Papertrey Ink (white)
Ink: Distress Ink (mustard seed, wild honey, spiced marmalade) Distress Stickles (vintage photo)
Other: ribbon, Slice Sizzix (tattered florals)

Scrapbook Thursday--Grandpa's Birthday

Today I am back to share a birthday layout.  When I make adult birthday layouts I tend to focus on when their birthday is or something specific about the person rather than typical birthday things.  My dad's birthday is October 30th so he always gets fall/Halloween themes.  I like this paper as it has a Halloween feel but doesn't scream Halloween.  The clocks are a nice addition to a birthday page.

Scrapbook Thursday --School Carnival

Hopefully my scrapbook Thursdays can get back on track.  I have really been missing making layouts.  I get in ruts sometimes and have to step away and play with other paper crafts.  Today I want to share a quick layout from a school carnival.  I wanted to use the school colors of orange and blue.

I am not a big sticker user but sometimes it is nice to be able to pull out a ready-made embellishment.

I found a stamp I had forgotten about.  The Random Memory is nice to be able to tell about individual pictures.  I like that it allows me to highlight parts of the memory.
