Scrapbook Thursday--Christmas

Today's scrapbook Thursday comes from a paper kit.  I am a real sucker for paper kits with all the die cuts to match.  However I almost never use them.  I have trouble use the die cuts. This layout (not stellar but finished) uses some of those die cuts.

I used several of the die cuts and journaling blocks to finish the layout.

Papertrey Ink MIM--Layered Embossing

The Make-it-Monday this week at Papertrey Ink is layered embossing.  This technique caught my eye right away.  I am currently in love with heat embossing.  Who knew you could layer it up!

I pulled out my lonely mat stack die and stamp set ( I need to add more mat stacks.  I love these little suckers!) and started playing.  I added some distress ink, text backgrounds and a couple other fun stamps.

I started by stamping and embossing the frame and sentiment in gold.  Then I stamped the flowers in artichoke, layering it on top of the frame.

The background was created by layering distress ink and then stamping a script from text backgrounds.  I muted all the colors and image by spraying it with water.  I finished the card off with a sheer green ribbon.

Scrapbook Thursday--So Very Blessed

My scrapbook Thursday today is a birthday layout. More specifically, my 30th birthday layout.  Being a Turkey baby has some advantages.  Like if your birthday is the day of or the day after Thanksgiving, everyone forgets that you turned 30--except your parents of course.

I really like how the rustic twine brought this layout together.  It adds a lot of dimension but also some softness to the pictures.

Here I used one of my first Spellbinder purchases--fall leaves.  I try to stick to more classic shapes when I buy dies--shapes I know I'll use over and over.

This pumpkin is the Alterations pumpkin.  I love that the stem is separate from the the pumpkin.  The die is open so you can add movers and shakers to the inside if you want.  It's a great size too.

Paper: Reminisce (Harvest Plaid, Harvest Glow, Autumn Harvest, Shades of Autumn) Bazzil (green,  orange)
Tools: Spellbinders (fall leaves) Sizzix (Alterations pumpkin) Making Memories Slice (Noel, Basics 1)
Other: Papertrey Ink (button twine) Unknown (brown ribbon)

Scrapbook Thursday--Spooky Cocoa

Back with another scrapbook Thursday to share with you.  This layout is a single page. The paper was fun but very busy.  I always struggle with how to use the beautiful paper.

One thing I've had some success with is cutting the larger images to layer over my pictures.

I don't lose any of the great parts of the paper but I can include more pictures.

Scrapbook Thursday--A couple days late

I wanted to post this on Thursday but life got in the way.  I have a sick kiddo.  Trip to the nurse practitioner said Pneumonia.  Her breathing was very labored Friday night so we took her to the ER.  They did a chest x-ray and gave her a breathing treatment.  The x-ray was clear (thank goodness!) and the breathing treatment made it so much easier for her to move some air.  She has bronchitis and was sent home with some antibiotics and an inhaler.  Anyway through all this (and still going to school this week) I have been exhausted and unable to get things done that I really wanted to.

The layout I have to share with you today is our wildflower layout.  Normally we take bluebonnet pictures but there wasn't enough rain for bluebonnets.

I created the flowers with Heartfelt Creations stamps and matching Spellbinders dies.  I started by coloring  the flowers with Spectrum Noir markers.  I purchased several sets of their markers before Felicia's Scrapbooks closed at the end of November.  I have been practicing and trying to improve my coloring techniques.

The nice thing about the Heartfelt Creations stamps and matching dies is that it is so easy to create beautiful flowers in a couple of steps.  I cut the flower out of white cardstock and then lined up the stamp and added the details.  After I colored the flowers I used my flower shaping tools and mat to add more dimension to the flowers.

I finished the flowers off by add Stickles and Distress Stickles to the flower centers.

I also added some journaling on a tag in a corner pocket.

Hopefully I will be able to spend a little more time in my craft room and post some new projects on my blog.  I have been trying to find a balance between the needs of the classroom, the needs of my family and my own personal need to create!
