Scrapbook Thursday

Originally uploaded by stamping_sara
I struggle with keeping my scrapbooks current. I don't feel like I have to scrapbook everything but I have a huge pile of pictures I *want* to scrapbook and always seem to find something else to do instead. Scrapbooking is harder for me than card making and mini albums. I know that cards I send out are not going to be looked at for years to come. My scrapbooks are eventually going to the kids and they will (hopefully) look at and cherish them for years to come. In an effort to keep up and tackle that stack of photos that taunts me on my desk I am setting a goal of a layout a week.

On to this week's layout. These are pictures I took while on our trip to Missouri. I actually remembered this time to use the macro function and take a nice close up ( I just love pictures that are really close up). I can't believe there are no patterned papers on this page! I used white and yellow cardstock. The piercing was done using the Bazzil stiching templates and my new Making Memories piercer and stylus combo tool. I'm not sure what kind of flowers I used. My local store, Felicia's Scrapbooks has a bin of random flowers that I pulled these out of and added the gem brads to the center.

Swap Cards

Originally uploaded by stamping_sara
The card I'm sharing tonight was created for the fall foliage note card swap I am in on Paper Crafts site. I pulled out some new stamps from Clear Dollar Stamps to use. When I got the stamps they were smaller than I thought they would be but they are cute all the same.

I took the opportunity to play with layering stamped images. I have a lot of practice to go to be as good at this as many other paper crafters are but I think the pumpkins turned out ok.

Papers: Poppy (Archivers) Old Olive (Stampin Up!) Cream
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, True Thyme
Stamps: Clear Dollar Stamps and Walmart (leaf)

The papers are by Heidi Grace (found on sale at Joann's) and the flowers are the bucket of flowers from Michael's in the bridal section (found on clearance for $2).

The class was popular and has been put on the calendar for a second run at the end of August. Ten Christmas cards was a lot to get ready for but everyone had a good time so it was worth it!

I also just finished swapping out the Christmas in July tag swap I hosted on The Papercrafts website. This is the tag I created for the swap.

Super Puzzle Fighter Reigns again

There was a weekend that I think really "sealed the deal" with Fletcher about me as a future wife. On this particular weekend, Fletcher had some friends who were in town for some geek tournament or the other who spent the night with us. The guys stayed up playing the game du jour and eventually ended up playing Puzzle Fighter on the playstation. When I got up in the morning I cooked a nice breakfast for everyone and then challenged his friends to a puzzle fighter game. They all sized me up and decided I was probably pretty fair game; however I am quite the puzzle fighter player and I proceeded to sweep the floor with all of them.

Tonight I have created a new puzzle fighter junkie. He has the gleam in his eye, the steady but quick hands and an eye for multiple chains.

Elizabeth Goes to Tea

Originally uploaded by stamping_sara
Today Simon headed off with Grandpa on his big hiking adventure. Elizabeth, Grandma and myself headed off to have high tea. Lizzy really had a great time. She chose her own hat and drank strawberry shortcake tea along with some yummy tea savories and sweets.

Croquet is the name of the game!

My children have discovered croquet! They love it! We have been having a great time. We've really taken advantage of the nice weather and spend our days playing outside and our evenings catching fireflies. We even had the opportunity to watch fireworks for the fourth and make homemade icecream.

Is it really summer here??

Originally uploaded by stamping_sara
It feels more like late spring than July. The weather has been rather cool here (low 80's most days) and rainy. We arrived to a raspberry patch full of raspberries ripe for the picking. Lizzy and I go every afternoon and pick berries and eat them off the vine. There was one warmer day that we were able to run through the sprinkler. It's amazing to me how green everything is here in comparison to home. I also find it funny that people are complaining about how hot it is when the thermometer hits 88--I think it feels great since we've had mostly 100 days for weeks!
